Abstract:

The seminar will consist of 2 sessions:

  • Focus on Quantum Business (Almudena Justo – Director of the Fujitsu Fsas International Quantum Center). I will explain the quantum landscape from a business perspective, major investments carried on by the public sector, etc. I will also explain how are we working in Fujitsu and our strategy for the development and market uptake of quantum technologies, combining the work in the Quantum lab with the work we do in the international quantum center.
  • Focus on Quantum Computing Applications (Alejandro Borrallo – Technical Manger of the Fujitsu Fsas International Quantum Center). Alejandro will explain some R&D projects and cases studies around quantum computing in different verticals that we are developing. He will explain also some Digital Annealer Proof of Concept with the industry

Bio:

Fujitsu International Quantum Center aims to accelerate the market reach of these technologies through public-private collaboration, with the goal of enabling the industrial sector to improve its competitiveness through the development and adoption of quantum technologies.

Spanish executive Almudena Justo is a Chemical Engineer by training with a Master's degree in Energy and Sustainability and a Master's degree in Environmental and Bioprocess Engineering. She holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and an Executive MBA in International Business.

With international residencies at the London School of Economics, the Coller Institute at Telaviv University, and the Spanish Office for Science and Technology (Ministry of Science) in Brussels, Almudena Justo has extensive business experience in executive positions in business development and management of public-private innovation ecosystems in various technological fields internationally. She has worked on various strategic public-private digital transformation projects, such as the implementation of agricultural innovation systems (AKIS) within the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), smart city projects and the implementation of low-emission zones, digital transformation of the water sector, and more.

Thanks to her technological and business expertise and extensive experience in public R&D&I funding, she has served as an external expert for the European Commission and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology in business creation, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer, working across diverse verticals such as renewable energy, the circular economy, and raw materials.

Alejandro Borrallo Rentero is a Quantum Computing Manager at Fsas Technologies and a lecturer at UPM. He specializes in advancing quantum computing technologies and has a strong academic and professional background in the field. Alejandro is dedicated to both the theoretical and practical applications of quantum computing, striving to drive innovation through his work in industry and academia.
