ICFO Social Program
The ICFOnians Social Program was established to facilitate the integration of members of the ICFO community as well as to arouse interest in Catalonia and its traditions.
Every year, ICFO organizes a number of fixed activities that are fully or partially subsidized by the institute. Although these activities are not compulsory, ICFOnians are strongly encourage participation as they serve as an introduction to the culture and traditions of the area and an opportunity to get to know colleagues and from all areas of the institute beyond the scope of research activities.
ICFO SKI: With the Pyrenees just a few hours away, ICFOnians head to the slopes for a weekend of ski, snowboarding, or just some time in nature.
Sant Jordi: For many, this uniquely Catalan annual celebration of a book and a rose is one of the most beautiful of the year.
Adventure: After the lazy days of summer, ICFOnians enjoy an outing in nature, taking part in an activity in the rivers, mountains, and/or countryside of Catalonia.
Castanyada: In celebration of the popular tradition associated with All Saints’ Day, ICFOnians come together to enjoy “castanyas” (chestnuts) and marzipan pastries (panellets).
Calçotada: The Calçotada is typically Catalan outdoor gastronomic event featuring grilled onions and delicious romesco sauce.
Summer Party: This summer get together btrinh together ICFOnians that are at the institute only for the summer with ICFOnians that are here throughout the year.
International Food Festival: ICONS student organization organizes a friendly cooking competition where teams of ICFOnians prepare foods from around the world for all to taste and enjoy.
Festive Dinner: A celebration of the holiday season, the end of the year and the ICFO community.
