Advances of femtosecond laser technologies have opened new frontiers in studying exotic states of matter when it is exposed to ultrashort high-intensity laser pulses. In this talk, I will discuss some research activities in my lab, from striping electrons from a molecule to transforming a shiny piece of metal pitch black. I will also discuss various applications of our work.
