On December 2011, ICFO will offer a course for high-school teachers on the basics of photonics. The course is part of Professors i Ciència (Teachers and Science), a program recently presented by CaixaCatalunya Obra Social for a better training and specialization of teachers in the area of science.
The objective of the program is to let current research hit high schoolers in their classrooms. It is aimed at teachers with an interest in finding new methods to foster science and scientific values in their pupils.
ICFO contributes with the one-day course called Light: From Einstein to Nano-medicine. The course will delve into the nature and applications of light, with a special focus on laser light and its role in health and communication. The course ends with a guided lab tour through ICFO, and is supplemented with material and permanent counseling during the academic year.
