Description of Activities:

  1. We explore new avenues for boosting the sensitivity of photodetectors exploiting plasmonic nanostructures to confine light in nano-scale volume electrically active detectors, well beyond the diffraction limit. In doing so we manage to combine large area responsivity offered by the plasmonic lenses with nanoscale sensitivity to overcome noise-active area trade-offs.
  2. We investigate novel nanostructures in which we exploit plasmonic generation of hot carriers in metal nanostructures for light harvesting and sensing applications.
