Nikon Center of Excellence for Experimental Super-Resolution at ICFO
The present agreement reiterates the mutual willingness for continuous collaboration and broadens its scope, granting ICFO the label of Nikon Center of Excellence for Experimental Super-Resolution.
As one of the main reference centers in Europe in the field of super-resolution, ICFO consolidates its involvement with Nikon Europe B.V. and Izasa Scientific (Nikon’s official distributor in Spain), becoming a NIKON Center of Excellence for Experimental Super-Resolution.
The journey started back in 2008, with Nikon joining ICFO’s Corporate Liaison Program (CLP) and setting the basis for stable cooperation in super-resolution microscopy and advanced imaging techniques. Later on, in 2011, Nikon and ICFO partnered up to open the Nikon Center of Excellence (NCofE) in STORM at ICFO. The present agreement reiterates the mutual willingness for continuous collaboration and broadens its scope, granting ICFO the label of Nikon Center of Excellence for Experimental Super-Resolution.
“As a reputed hub within the NCofE network, ICFO is thrilled to continue to explore synergies with current R&D lines at ICFO”, explained Professor Lluis Torner, Director of the Institute. “The collaboration establishes mechanisms for a stronger interaction between Nikon, Izasa and ICFO, focusing on the attraction of external users with unmet needs for high impact projects and publications.” Dr Pablo Loza, Chief of the Super-resolution Microscopy and Nanoscopy (SLN) Facility at ICFO, also acknowledged “We are proud of being a Nikon Center of Excellence, and to be able to continue to build upon this 15-year journey of collaboration. The cutting-edge research performed by SLN users over the past years, published in numerous high impact journals, is one of our main drivers to foster long-standing collaborations with key industry players like Nikon.”
During the signature, Daniel Ciepielewski, General Manager of Nikon Europe, also said “Through close cooperation with ICFO, Nikon and Izasa take advantage of the experience and know-how gained by the application of novel systems in an environment dedicated to top-quality research”.
