ICFO’s Director joins consultative body for strategic decision on science and innovation in Catalonia
On November 8th , the Parliament of Catalunya announced the names of seven prestigious members of the research and university community, including ICFO director Lluís Torner, who will form part of the Research and Innovation Council of Catalonia (CORICAT).
- Lluís Torner, physicist and director of the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO).
- Nora Ventosa Rull: chemical engineer and research professor at the Materials Science Institute of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC).Joan Elias García, catedràtic de Matemàtiques i exrector de la Universitat de Barcelona (UB).
- Joan Elias García, catedràtic de Matemàtiques i exrector de la Universitat de Barcelona (UB).
- Nuria Montserrat Pulido, biologist and ICREA researcher professor at the Bioengineering Institute of Catalonia (IBEC).
- Lluís Blanch Torra, Doctor in Medicine and Director of Research and Innovation of the Parc Taulí Health Corporation Consortium of Sabadell.
- Xavier Ferràs Hernández, Telecommunications engineer and Economics professor (Esade-URL).
- Anna Maria Pla, Doctor in Law and professor at the University of Girona (UdG).
They join the seven members of the council who were announced in July of this year, including ICFO Scientific Advisory Board Member, Anna Fontcuberta, head of the Semiconductor Materials Laboratory at the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne, and also José Manuel Silva Rodríguez, the Director General of Research of the European Commission who played a key role in the creation of the European Research Council (ERC). Together, the CORICAT will act as the consultative body of the Generalitat de Catalunya for making major strategic decisions on science and innovation.
