Two ICFO Group Leader included in Clarivate Analytics 2024 compilation of Highly Cited Researchers
Clarivate Web of Science has released its annual list of Highly Cited Researchers, including two ICFO Group Leaders, Prof Dr F. Pelayo García de Arquer and ICREA Prof Dr Frank H. L. Koppens, both in the Cross-Field Category.
The Highly Cited Researchers are individuals at universities, research institutes and commercial organizations who have demonstrated significant and broad influence in their field(s) of research. Clarivate calculates that of the world’s population of scientists and social scientists, Highly Cited Researchers are 1 in 1,000.
To determine the recently published list of influential researchers, Clarivate surveyed papers produced and cited over an 11-year period from January 2013 to December 2023 that at the end of 2023 ranked in the top 1% by citations for their Essential Science Indicators (ESI). Researchers are selected for their exceptional influence and performance in one of more of the 20 fields used in the ESI.
2024 is the 7th consecutive year that ICREA professor at ICFO Frank Koppens, leader of the Quantum Nano-Optoelectronics group has appeared on the Clarivate list of highly cited scientists.Likewise, ICFO professor Pelayo García de Arquer, the leader of the CO2 Mitigation Accelerated by Photons group, has been included in the list since 2020, the year that he started his group at ICFO.
