New NUCLIS- ACCIO project at ICFO
ICFO is granted funding for an industrial collaboration with COMSA EMTE and Ecopol Tech.
NUCLIS is a call by ACCIÓ, the agency for Business Competitivity of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia), that gives support to industrial research and experimental development projects carried out by one entity or by groups of companies that are either representing the same value chain, the same business or that operate within the same field of technology.
In the most recent call, ICFO has obtained funding for the project entitled “NanoPro: nanostructured barrier coating for protecting and prolonging the life of transparent organic photovoltaic cells” (NanoPro: recubrimiento barrera nanoestructurado para la protección y prolongación de la vida útil de células fotovoltaicas orgánicas transparentes). The project is coordinated by the Organic Nanostructured Photovoltaics research group led by UPC Prof. at ICFO Jordi Martorell ICFO, in collaboration with the companies COMSA EMTE and Ecopol Tech.
The objective of this project is to develop a coating for applications in organic photovoltaic cells that that could have a barrier effect to protect these from air (oxygen, carbon dioxide), water vapor, water and abrasive vapors (mainly acids), as well as have a good adhesion to the surface and not affect them chemically.
