ICFO Welcomes the President of Catalonia

The Hble Joaquim Torra, President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, visited ICFO on Friday, 15 March to learn more about the work carried out at the center. ICFO Director Lluis Torner led the president on a guided tour, stressing the triple mission of the institute to conduct frontier research, transfer technology and knowledge from ICFO’s laboratories to society, and to train the next generation of scientists and technologists for careers in academia and industry.

ICFO’s strong focus on inspiring new generations of scientists was especially evident during the visit, which coincided with the celebration of the Young Photonics Congress, an outreach event organized by ICFO’s Knowledge and Technology Transfer team. The President was able to view some of the posters and interact with students during their poster session.
