ICFO is the first research institute in Spain to receive ISO 45001:2018 certification
Certification verifies the institute’s high standard for Occupational Safety and Health Management systems
ICFO is committed to providing the healthiest and safest environment and thus the best condition for top world-renowned research, in compliance with all applicable legislation. To this end, the Safety and Biosafety Unit at ICFO (OS&B) implemented an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (officially BS OHSAS) in 2015, establishing a continuous improvement process which requires the participation, cooperation and involvement of all ICFOnians to constantly look for ways to improve working conditions.
The institute has now gone a step further in terms of excellence in this area, achieving the new ISO 45001:2018 certification, which will replace the OHSA certification that expires in 2021. ICFO’s dedication to providing excellent working conditions goes far beyond the safety standards set by the EU directives in establishing the legal obligations on safety, and is based on the continuous improvement process.
ICFO requires Safety training for all ICFOnians upon arrival to the institute and also makes available its Health and Safety Policy to external collaborators and suppliers.
