05 February 2010 New Network of Excellence

ICFO hosts the kick-off meeting of Nanophotonics
for Energy Efficiency.
Nanophotonics for Energy Efficiency is a new European Network of Excellence funded under the FP7 ICT Work Programme. It involves the collaborative participation of nine research institutions from Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Sweden, and the UK. The network involves five Group Leaders in ICFO: Professors Jordi Matorell and Gerasimos Konstantatos, and ICREA Professors Niek van Hulst, Romain Quidant, and Valerio Pruneri. The overall coordination of the network is led by ICFO Staff Scientist Gonçal Badenes.

The goal of the network is the coordination of nanophotonics research for energy efficient applications. Laboratories and research groups in Europe will work together combining their efforts in the development of new approaches to lighting and solar cell technology.

The project kick-off meeting took place on February 3-4, 2010 at ICFO with participants from all nine partners: Technical University of Dresden, Germany; University of Southampton, UK; CEA-Leti, France; European Laboratory for Non-linear Spectroscopy (LENS), Italy; Bilkent University, Turkey; Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden; and CSIC, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, and ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences, Spain.
