30 October 2015 New Appointment with APL Photonics

ICREA Prof. at ICFO Jens Biegert invited to become Associate Editor of the journal ICFO proudly announces that ICREA Prof. at ICFO Jens Biegert has been invited to become one of the associate editors for the journal APL Photonics, a peer-reviewed and open access journal that will be launched in November of 2015 by the American Institute of Physics (AIP).

Founded in 1931, the AIP is the overarching body of 10 member societies including APS (American Physics Society), AAS (American Anstronomical Society) and OSA (Optical Society of America), and it represents over 130,000 scientists, engineers, and educators. 23 societies such as SPIE, the Laser Insitute of America and the American Chemical Society are affiliated to AIP.

APL Photonics is a new open access journal featuring high quality original research on significant topical issues covering all areas within the field of photonics. The journal emphasizes very high quality, timely work. Its vision is to be an authoritative, peer-reviewed, rapid publication serving the entire photonics community.

The journal covers topics such as light sources, nonlinear optics, optoelectronics, nanophotonics, biomedical optics, ultrafast photonics, fiber optics and optical communications, quantum photonics, optical imaging, and photovoltaics. APL Photonics will be a dedicated home for open access research directly serving the photonics community. The journal will be open for submissions in October 2015.

Congratulations Jens on this achievement!
