05 December 2016 2016 GEFES Prize for Best Experimental Thesis

ICFO Alumnus Nicolò Accanto recieves thesis award for Solid State Physics Dr. Nicolò Accanto, who carried out his doctoral research under the supervision of ICREA Prof at ICFO Niek van Hulst, has been awarded one of two prizes for the best thesis in Condensed Matter Physics in the experimental category (Sept 2015 - July 2016) by the Specialized Group of Solid State Physics (GEFES), an organization of the Royal Spanish Society of Physics (RSEF).

Dr Accanto’s thesis entitled ‘Coherent Control of Nonlinear Optical Processes in Individual Nanoparticles’ aimed to actively control the fundamental interactions between laser pulses and individual nanoparticles, extending the concept of coherent control to the nanoscale and ultrafast scale.

The award ceremony will be held at the symposium organized by GEFES at the next RSEF biennial meeting in July 2017.

Congratulations Nicolò!
