ICFO is committed to the continued advancement of rigorous in-house safety protocols, with strong programs of personal safety and injury prevention, wellness promotion, and compliance with applicable environmental, health and safety regulations.

ICFO makes all reasonable efforts to: promote occupational and personal safety of staff and visitors; provide information about potential hazards; identify and correct potential health and safety hazards; conduct activities about environmental impacts associated with research activities; and maintain a risk-based emergency management program inspired by international best practices.

The institute runs an Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) management system establishing a continuous improvement process that counts on the participation, cooperation and involvement of all ICFO personnel to constantly look for ways to improve working conditions. The system is fully aligned with the safety standards set by the EU directives and national regulations. It includes a Safety Manual that sets the responsibilities of all ICFO personnel in relation to the matter and sets the procedures governing the requirements to be applied in different instances and circumstances.

ICFO offers compulsory safety training to all personnel upon arrival to the institute and, when appropriate, makes available its Health and Safety Policy to external collaborators and suppliers.
