New ICFOnians
New researchers have joined ICFO.
May 10, 2010
One PhD Student, Mr. Francisco Silva, one MSc Student, Mr. Behrooz Hashemian, and one Visiting Student, Mr. Stefan Arndt, will join ICFO.
Mr. Francisco Silva received his MSc from the University of Porto, Portugal. He worked on methods to generate waveform controlled few-cycle pulses through filamentation and gas-filled hollow fibers. Mr. Silva will join the Attoscience and Ultrafast Optics group led by Prof. Jens Biegert as a PhD Student. He will work on various aspects related to the generation of waveform controlled few-cycle laser pulses and their application in strong field physics.
Mr. Behrooz Hashemian is a MSc Student on Computational Mechanics at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. He joins the Medical Optics group led by Prof. Turgut Durduran for his master’s practical internship, and will be responsible for the development of a diffuse optical simulation package.
Mr. Stefan Arndt is an Erasmus fellowship recipient from the University of Applied Science at Regensburg, Germany. He joins the group led by Prof. Jens Biegert to work on a project related to spectral calibrations in the X-UV regime.
