CONFERENCE: 26th International Conference on Atomic Physics

The 26th International Conference on Atomic Physics, ICAP 2018, will be held from July 22 – 27, 2018 in Barcelona, Spain. Following the tradition of ICAP, the conference, which will gather atomic physicists from all over the world, will present an outstanding programme of invited speakers covering the most recent developments in the field of atomic physics.
The list of topics that will be addressed during the conferences includes:
Topology in atomic systems Quantum gases Quantum computation and communication Quantum simulation and quantum annealing Fundamental tests and precision measurements Quantum optics and quantum nanophotonics Intense fields and ultrafast science Rydberg and artificial atoms and molecules Atomic Clocks and quantum metrology Cold molecules Out of equilibrium quantum systems
In addition, two special events will take place during the conference:
1) Nobel Prize Panel: The ICAP 2018 will host a panel discussion with five Nobel laureates, some of the key players in the development of the field, on the main achievements of atomic physics, on the current trends and on the foreseeable ones in the near future. Confirmed participants are: Claude Cohen-Tannoudji (NP 1997) William D. Phillips (NP 1997) Wolfgang Ketterle (NP 2001) Roy J. Glauber (NP 2005) Theodor W. Hänsch (NP 2005) Serge Haroche (NP 2012)
2) IUPAP Public Lecture – Thursday, 26th July from 19:30h – 21:00h: In the “New SI”, the new version of the international metric system of measurement, which will come into effect in 2019, four of the SI base units – namely the kilogram, the ampere, the kelvin and the mole – will be redefined in terms of physical constants of nature.
This public lecture will be addressed by Professors Vanderlei Bagnato and Nobel Laureate William Phillips for the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics.
