Majid Ebrahim-Zadeh (ICFO)

Biography:

Majid Ebrahim-Zadeh is an ICREA Professor at ICFO, Barcelona, Spain. He received his PhD from St Andrews University, UK, in 1989. He was a Royal Society of London Research Fellow at St Andrews from 1993 to 2001, and a Reader from 1997 to 2003. Professor Ebrahim-Zadeh has been active in the advancement of nonlinear optics and parametric sources for over 25 years. His research has led the realization of new generations of innovative light sources from the UV to mid-IR and from the continuous-wave to fewcycle femtosecond time scales. He has published >600 peer-reviewed articles, including >210 journal papers (5 invited), >100 invited, keynote and plenary talks, and 14 post-deadline papers at leading international, which have provided comprehensive treatise on nonlinear optics and OPOs. He has chaired 8 international conferences, served as committee chair of 7 conferences, and over 50 times as member of the technical, organizing, and steering committees of major conferences worldwide. He has served as an associate editor of IEEE Photonics Journal, topical editor of Optics Letters, guest editor of J. Opt. Soc. Am. B, and associate editor of Optica. Professor Ebrahim-Zadeh is the president and chief scientist of Radiantis, a company created from his research laboratory in 2005. He is the recipient of several honors and awards, including Royal Society of London university fellowship and merit awards (UK: 1993-2001), Innova Prize for technology innovation and enterprise (Spain: 2004), Berthold Leibinger Innovation Prize (Germany: 2010), and OSA David Richardson Medal (USA: 2021). He is a Fellow of OSA and SPIE.
