New ICFOnians

Eight new ICFOnians joined the different ICFO research groups, units and facilities during the month of February. Welcome aboard!

March 03, 2017
One postdoc, Iñigo Ramiro, one research engineer, Robin Camphausen, two Ph.D. students, Valeria Venturini and Nina Fleischmann, and four visiting students, Julia Oriol, Nadia Milders, Albert Capdevila and Lluc Sendra, have joined ICFO in the month of February 2017.

Iñigo Ramiro, who obtained his PhD degree in Photovoltaic Solar Energy from the Technical University of Madrid is joining the Functional Optoelectronic Nanomaterials research group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Gerasimos Konstantatos as a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral fellow. At ICFO, he will work on mid-IR optoelectronics and thermophotovoltaics.

Robin Camphausen obtained a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Sydney, and now has joined the Optoelectronics group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Valerio Pruneri as a research engineer. During his stay, he will be focusing on optical devices based on CMOS for particle sensing.

Valeria Venturini, who obtained her MSc degree in Physics from the Universitá La Sapienza Roma, is now joining the SLN Facility group led by Stefan Wieser as a PhD student. During her stay at ICFO, she will explore how temperature variations have an impact on leucocyte motility.

Nina Fleischmann holds a MSc degree in Technical Physics from the Graz University of Technology, and now is coming to ICFO to join the Ultrafast Optical Dynamics of Solids research group led by Prof. Simon Wall as a PhD student.

Julia Oriol, who is pursuing a Biotechnology degree from the University of Barcelona, is joining the Optoelectronics research group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Valerio Pruneri as a visiting student. At ICFO, she will be doing research on the development of antimicrobial transparent surfaces.

Nadia Milders, who is pursuing a degree in Advanced Physics from the University of Barcelona, is joining the Ultrafast Optical Dynamics of Solids research group led by Prof. Simon Wall as a visiting student. During her stay, she will be doing research on Non-linear absorption in materials.

Albert Capdevila, who is pursuing a MSc degree in Photonics from UPC, UAB, UB & ICFO, is joining the Optoelectronics research group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Valerio Pruneri as a visiting student. During his stay at ICFO, he will be working on a Modulated VCSEL for quantum applications.

Lluc Sendra, who is pursuing a BSc degree in Engineering Physics from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, has joined the Quantum Engineering of Light research group led by Prof. Juan P. Torres as a visiting student. During his stay at ICFO, he will study the relationship between Coherence and Correlations in a new scheme of optical coherence tomography.
