Humboldt Research Award to an ICFOnian

Prof. Maciej Lewenstein receives the Humboldt Foundation Award in recognition of his lifetime achievements in research.

The Humboldt Foundation (Germany) has elected ICFO group leader Maciej Lewenstein as a recipient of a Humboldt Research Award. The Prize consists of a 60000 EU research grant and is conferred to outstanding scientists and scholars from all disciplines from outside Germany whose fundamental discoveries, new theories, or insights have had a significant impact on their own discipline and who are expected to continue producing cutting-edge achievements in the future.

The awardee is invited to carry out research projects of his own choice in cooperation with specialist colleagues in Germany during a period of up to one year. The Humboldt Foundation grants up to 100 Humboldt Research Awards annually. The candidates are selected by nominations submitted by established academics in Germany. Prof. Lewenstein was nominated by Prof. Ignacio Cirac, director of the Max-Planck Institute for Quantum Optics.
